For Musicians

Music is one of the primary reasons that we diverged from AV into a focus on pure audio projects.  Both James and Molly Rose Steed, co-founders of Steed Productions, are musicians.  In fact, it was their music that initially caused their meeting, at an open mic in Molly’s hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah.  With all of that being said, at the time of writing this, musicians are not a focus of our business model.  However, we have worked hard to create tools that are designed to help us grow as musical performers.  These include:

  • A group of metronome training chord progression videos designed to help in the memorization of specific chord progressions, while aiding in the adherence to rhythm in solo or rhythm-specific performance.
  • A group of metronome training guitar fretboard videos designed to aid guitarists in the memorization of the fretboard while also aiding in the adherence to a specific rhythm.  (At the time of writing this, these videos are not yet published. I’d hate to say this, but check back for updates or subscribe to our YouTube channel where these videos will one day be published and demoed)
  • Several lead sheets of Public Domain music to aid in the expansion of musicians’ chord progression knowledge while providing songs that might be known to an audience that musicians are free to cover and distribute.  (Again, at the time of writing this, none of these are published.  You’ll have to check back here for more information about these.  Or, better yet, follow our Public Domain Projects podcast and wait for our performance releases of the songs we have created lead sheets for)

As you can see, sadly, some of what we’ve been working on for several years is still yet to be published.  Life gets in the way and it’s difficult to explain the delays without an over-complicated description of our lives and the meandering path we’ve taken towards a systematic production and publication model.  I hope that any musician that happens upon this will, at the very least, find the metronome chord progression videos we’ve created helpful and will consider giving our eventual music productions a chance.
